ดร.นพ.วิรุฬ ลิ้มสวาท เป็นแพทย์และนักมานุษยวิทยาการแพทย์ ในสังกัดกระทรวงสาธารณสุข จบการศึกษาแพทย์ศาสตร์บัณฑิต จากคณะแพทยศาสตร์ศิริราชพยาบาล มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล และมหาบัณฑิตและดุษฎีบัณฑิตสาขามานุษยวิทยา จากมหาวิทยาลัยฮาร์วาร์ดประเทศสหรัฐอเมริกา โดยตลอดระยะเวลานับแต่จบการศึกษาแพทย์ โดยเฉพาะ 8 ปีของการลาศึกษาต่อ ต้องฟันฝ่าอุปสรรคจากโรคร้ายของทั้งตัวเองและภรรยา จึงมีประสบการณ์ตรงในวัฒนธรรมทางการแพทย์จากหลายมุมมอง ซึ่งเป็นแรงผลักดันให้มีความมุ่งมั่นในการสร้างความเปลี่ยนแปลงในระบบสุขภาพ และหนุนเสริมวัฒนธรรมการดูแลใส่ใจในสังคมไทย

Dr. Wirun Limsawart is a medical doctor and a medical anthropologist at the Thailand Ministry of Public Health. He got an M.D. from the Faculty of Medicine, Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, and an M.A. and Ph.D. in anthropology from Harvard University. Since the beginning of his life as a medical doctor, particularly in the eight years of his graduate study, Wirun encounters obstacles caused by severe diseases to his wife and himself. These illness experiences from multiple perspectives have inspired his commitment to make changes in the health systems and enhance the culture of care in Thai society.
